Beauty // Health // Skin Care: Moisturizer Madness!

by admin ~ October 22nd, 2008. Filed under: Beauty, Health, skin care.

Lovely readers — guess what?  It’s getting cold!  Personally, I prefer cold weather; autumn is my favorite season, followed closely by winter.  However, that same cool, crisp, stringent air that many of us love can be extremely devastating to our skin.  It sucks the moisture right out of our atmosphere — and out of our pores as well.

So, it is extremely important that you take the time to moisturize during the colder months.  Naturally, of course, you have to keep your face hydrated.  Ideally, you want to look for a moisturizer which does not contain oil — that kind can ultimately cause your skin to break out, and no one wants that.  Still, you want something intensive and effective, so it needs to be thick and creamy enough to keep your skin smooth, soft, supple, and silky.

Of course, making sure that you drink plenty of water each day can help your skin retain the essential hydration it needs to stay healthy, as well.  Fresh fruits and vegetables are very beneficial as well.

Remember, though: your face isn’t all you need to moisturize.  Rub that lotion everywhere.  The last thing you want is to be cuddling up to someone you love, in front of the fire on a warm winter’s night … just to graze them with an ashy elbow or a rough skinned foot!  So, as far as that goes, make sure that whatever you use to shave with — lotion, gel, cream, et cetera — will moisturize your skin as well.

Do you know of any nice lightweight body moisturizers? I take great care of my face but can be extremely lazy when it comes to the rest of my body! I hate that sticky feeling they often leave, especially in the winter when shorts or skirts are no longer an option.

I am the exact same way, because of the same reasons! I tend to only give a care when there’s a fairly big chance that anyone will be seeing and/or coming into contact with my legs. :D

I’ve found that the old school is infinitely better — last winter I started using a combination of Johnson & Johnson products, one of them is a body wash you can shave with (the two-for-one bit pleases my lazy streak!), and the 24 hour lotion. I don’t know if it’s the 24 hour formula bit or the fact that J&J just know what they’re doing, but it’s not sticky at all, dries fast but smooth, and what I personally like best, especially for winter, it actually seems to keep the stubble down for a couple of days when you put it on after shaving. This also pleases my lazy streak!

Hope that helps, oh Kindred Spirit! ;)
